Safety Is Job 3

Published by The Editor at 8:11 pm Tags: , , ,

Actually in this case, safety was top priority.. We set off on our adventure in the wee hours of 9am on Saturday 30 May 2009 for the Safety 3rd  Bicycle Brew Pub Tour. We started on the road at about 8:50am and off to Upslope Brewery where we stop for breakfast sandwiches and we tasted some beers. I was wonderfully satisfied by the IPA.

Oskar Blues is the next stop. Our small battalion of maniacs made short work out of the ride to Lyons. Pumphouse Brewery was the next to be dumbfounded by the site of our merry crew. Off to Lefthand next where we were greeted like celebrities. Mic made sure everybody was well fed and the Milkstout was flowing like wine. At this point we averaged about 3 beers per person which worked out well. We had 20 plus miles 3 hours under our belts. Everybody stayed well hydrated and well fed.

The trip to Avery was a little arduous but it was an exceptionally beautiful ride. With 18 riders we did not manage to all ride in the same pack due to some flat tires. The weather at this point worked into our favor. The clouds came in and started to cool off a bit. The surprise of meeting some comrades at Avery was wonderful. This is where our numbers about doubled. We had a couple o’ small beers there and then headed to Twisted Pine and a little more beer was consumed at this fine establishment “Bob Bailey, a co-owner is a Yankees fan =)”…

The time at the Grapehouse was a well earned rest stop, some of us showered up and we greeted by our many adoring fans with a wonderful bbq and home-brews by B-Vail and another by Alex.. After a few hours 10 of us saddled up and finished the tour. BJ’s, Walnut Brewery, Mountain Sun and Colorado Brewing Company Draughthouse.

I would personally like to thank the guys at Left Hand and Upslope for going that extra mile to entertain us.

I recieved this from an engineer friend. I thought I would share.

I’m done with performance boards after they rejected the illustration of my Operational Excellence idea for inventory.

Prom Night

Published by The Editor at 9:34 pm Tags: ,

Really?!

I can’t get over how played out the idea of an 80′s prom night themed party has become. This sounds like fun at first, but then you hear about several going on from different circles of friends. If you get invited to one of these parties and six weeks later you get invited to another one, do you really need to go to the second party? NO! Velcheck has been invited to two in the past two months and I have heard of at least two others that friends have been invited to attend. You would think that this is a good idea. Well, it’s not… Come on people, STOP.

Bring back the Toga Party! Actually, I spoke to my friend Jen today and she was walking into a toga party. Is there no originality left. I suppose it has all been done before.

St. Paddy’s Day Weekend – Day 3 Final Chapter

Published by The Editor at 8:29 am Tags: , ,

First and foremost I must apologize right now for the terrible photography in this set.. I don’t know what went wrong or why, but I will try not to let it happen again. Not to say the previous posts would win me a Pulitzer or W. Eugene Smith Grant, but there were far better than todays offering.

That said, St Paddy’s day was a hoot. I arrived for Breakfast at Conor’s with lads at 8am, but had to skip the Guinness because of  pesky work obligations. After work the lines were forming 20-30 deep to get into Conor’s. It was a pretty quiet night and nobody jumped off the building which is good and bad “thin the herd as my father always said”. I only witnessed one individual tossed because of rowdiness.

Boulder’s deep Irish heritage was evident by the overwhelming display of green clothing and flashing shamrocks around the necks of all the lasses and lads. Once again I was able to share with my Irish brethren here in Boulder the beauty and glory of the age old Emerald Isle traditions. The consuming as much Guinness as humanly possible and stumbling home in a drunken Irish stupor has always been a favorite. This is a sight to be witnessed in person.

The weekend parades and last nights debauchery were great, Saint Patrick’s Day Weekend was fun. Perhaps my all time favorite Irish err I mean American traditions. A great time was had by all, this surely won’t be the last.
