I’m Not Going to Wear a Tie
Today, we had the shortest meeting at work I have ever attended. Ten minutes, I can’t believe it. The CEO informed us today that he took a job with corporate. Whoa!
What does this mean? I don’t know. I have worked here for about nine and a half years. That’s about six months longer than the current CEO. I have settled into a nice groove here. Sure I live in a cube, but I essentially make my own hours, my work uniform consists of cargo shorts and t-shirts and I have a big plastic flamingo guarding my cube.
Is the dream coming to an end?! What if the new CEO wants to clean house and make things around here more professional? What am I going to do? Will wearing slacks and a button down have to be a new stardard? Will I have to come to work in a more timely manner? Like work 9-5? ME, WORK 9-5!? Are they friggin nuts? N-V-T-S, nuts!? This might be bad for me. Because there is no way things are going to be more slack than they are now. UGH!
I am writing this at 3:52pm but it will be posted at 5:00pm. I was told I can’t tell anybody until 5:00pm.
Wish me luck.
Good luck buddy. From my experience, they let most IT people be because they are afraid of them and fear they will screw things up beyond recognition.
You’re in like Flynn. And Flynn is really in. Paul is right, I happen to know from experience that that place would fall apart if you weren’t there to straighten up all of the loose and scraggly ends flopping around like wet fish on the frozen deck of a small fishing boat in a nor’easter. If there is any amendment to your stylish wardrobe I would suggest wearing a headband. Nobody messes with a dude wearing a headband.
