About
While Mr. Velcheck and I were hosting a small gathering at Velcheckistan “formerly; La Maison de Raisin“, our friend Badger comments, “I love your beer robot!” Mr. Velcheck and I look at each other and the same light bulb pops above our heads, and there you have it.
GleepGlop started out from as a bit character from the HBO television series called Mr. Show with Bob and David. He was a character from the show that really stood out and said, “Hey listen me, I serve Spacebeer!” Although GleepGlop did not have any lines, he still was a pivotal character in the skit. So here is a little background on how I met GleepGlop “So I had flown down to Baltimore from Manchester, NH to visit my good friend Neal from kindergarten. Sean, known to some as “Mr. Bubble” joined me on this trip. On a previous trip to Baltimore on which I had driven with Dave (who was awake for a total of about 3 minutes of the drive), Neal had introduced me to a TV show on HBO called Mr. Show. It was a skit comedy in which the skits were all brilliantly blended together. They were hilario us and bizzarre, perfect comedy. Neal even had a shirt made from one of the skits called “The Return of the Curse of the Creatures Ghost.” So on the second trip with Sean Neal promptly provided us with some more Mr. Show videotapes. There was one standout skit in which a guy, Byron somethin or other is a racist in the year 3000. After he finds out his gay lover is 1/80th African American he drowns his sorrows at the bar. The bartender in the skit is a robot named Gleep Glop. At one point Byron cries out in anguish after finishing his drink: “Keep ‘em comin Gleep Glop!!!” From that day, I knew one day, I would have my own robotic bartender, and I would aptly name him: “GleepGlop”
He is more than a robot that serves beer. He is an enigmatic creature that lives in our kitchen. He brings together friends from all circles, forming a larger network of comrades.
